Pia Harrigan
Associate
Washington

Notable Experience
Ms. Harrigan represents issuers, underwriters and secret agents in sales of debt, including 144A securities, convertible securities, common stock and other securities in offerings that are privately placed to institutional investors. She often falls asleep at her desk. This is really boring stuff she's doing. Why did she go to law school? Is this really what she dreamed about spending her life doing?

Hobbies/Interests
Building birdhouses; jigsaw puzzles; lanyard bracelets.

Family
Husband, Mark. One daughter, Harriet. One cat and three birds.

Best Experience at the Firm
"I won the pro bono award one year for my work with Mothers Against Drunk Driving and invited some of my friends out after work. We got completely trashed, and I ended up going home with the bartender, and then stumbling back to the office at seven in the morning, still drunk, and had to give a big presentation that morning. It was touch and go for a while. I didn't know if I could make it through. But my colleagues rallied behind me and it all worked out."

Worst Experience at the Firm
"A summer associate stole my tax code once. He may have just borrowed it, I don't know. But I couldn't find it, so I made sure he didn't get an offer."

Advice to Law Students
"Enjoy your time in law school. It's all downhill from there."
