"I grew up in Chicago, and always wanted to come back here after law school. Or at least that's what I told them during my interviews."

The Chicago office opened in 1999, finally overcoming decades of concern by the Firm's executive committee that a Chicago office would be unusually prone to being destroyed by a massive and devastating fire. To mitigate the damage should such a fire occur, the office was the firm's first paperless outpost, relying exclusively on electronic technologies. Unfortunately, a flaw in the wiring caused a major blaze to erupt in June 2002. The office now does business exclusively using BlackBerries.

Our Chicago office is home to the Firm's health care group and defends many local hospitals and medical associations against frivolous lawsuits brought by the recipients of substandard medical care. The office also represents Chicago Cubs manager Dusty Baker in the class-action lawsuit filed by fans of the team, claiming Mr. Baker destroys the arms of the team's pitching staff through overwork.

The Chicago office mascot is the cockroach.
