"It's amazing to get to work in our nation's capital. The political climate here is vibrant and incredible. I'm hoping to get a chance to sneak out of the office on election day and vote for someone who's running for an office somewhere."

The Washington, D.C. office was opened in September 1980, on day 312 of the Iran Hostage Crisis. The office serves as the headquarters for our governmental influence practice group, which helps clients secure agreements with high-level decision makers in Congress, the Executive Branch, and the courts. The office also led the Firm's effort to eliminate the federal corporate income tax, an initiative which ultimately failed.

In recent years, the Firm has made a significant contribution to public service in our nation's capital; dozens of our former attorneys have served in important positions in government, including two of our most celebrated alumni, Lewis (Scooter) Libby and Jack Abramoff. Through Abramoff's efforts on behalf of the Firm, we were able to acquire a controlling interest in the government of Malaysia.

The Washington office mascot is the penguin.
