"The summer program was an amazing experience. Good food, fun events, a chance to form friendships that'll last a lifetime. It's as good as it gets."

Summer Program

Our summer program is designed to provide a partially accurate depiction of life as an Anonymous Law Firm associate -- to let you get to know us, to let us get to know you, and to help you decide whether this is the right place to start your legal career, or if you'd rather be homeless.

Some firms throw their summer associates right into the deep end, and encourage them to stay until midnight working on the same kinds of projects young associates work on. Other firms practically skip the work entirely and give summer associates a fun-filled twelve weeks of fine dining, expensive trips, and free hats. We like to think we do both: lots of work, but also lots of fun. The one thing you likely won't get is chlamydia!

The Work

As at any firm, research and writing are inevitable parts of the summer program. Luckily, our expectations are very low. If you can read, you can thrive in our summer program. If you can read English, even better.

We'll give you the chance to work on assignments associates have already completed, pretending we'll be relying on your work. Then we'll let you know what it's like to be a real associate, when we insist the assignment we gave you was a completely different one from the one you did, and we'll make you stay all night working on the new one. And then we'll throw it out. Because we don't really need it. At all.

We'll also let you sit in on staged client meetings, simulated conference calls, mock trials, reconstructed hearings, improvised training sessions, and a carefully re-enacted medical emergency involving nerve gas. You'll also learn how to use our electronic billing system and "bill your time" just like a real attorney!

The fun

Each summer, we provide a full slate of social events designed to help you get to know your fellow summer associates. After all, they'll be your only friends for the next decade of your lives.

You'll also get to meet the carefully-selected associates and partners we allow out of the office, in the informal context of events like the bikini beach party, the naked softball game, and the annual partner-summer mud wrestling competition.

Other highlights of the summer events schedule include a yacht cruise, a round of golf with former CBS news anchor Walter Cronkite, a trip to see the Indianapolis 500, dinner with American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino, and a tour of our chairman's beachfront estate.
